There is something about a small town wedding.  I know in the city, we are always fortunate to have access to some pretty nice places in case the weather is bad and in our small prairie towns, that isn't always the case.  However, there is still something about a small town wedding.  Maybe its the genuine people that open up their homes and yards to you.  Maybe its how everyone scrambles for keys to schools, heritage buildings and elevators just in case you might need them.  Maybe its how all the guests seem so genuinely thrilled for the newly married couple and applaud at the end of their vows, making them kiss three consecutive times until they were satisfied it was enough.  Maybe its all of the above.  Well this past weekend, I witnessed all of that.  So much laughter and tears that it truly makes your heart swell.  This lovely couple had the whole support of their towns and it was great to see.  We even went to the Kelvington High School, which is where each and every member of the wedding party went to High School.  Some may say that its not the perfect location for wedding photos, but others may realize how perfect it is.  Thank you Jill, Josh, your families and friends for making my day such a great one.  A special thanks to Bob and Linda Taylor for the use of their beautiful back yard during the 45 minutes of "no rain" on Saturday.  And congratulations again Jill and Josh.  You guys are a great couple and I know you have many happy years ahead of you.

Well, another beautiful Saturday and another beautiful wedding.  This one was on a picturesque farm just outside of Yorkton.  The house and grounds were so beautiful. It looked like a post card.  Mom and Dad had been working very hard to make it just right for the wedding and did a fantastic job.  I must say it was a great day.  The bride and the groom, as usual, were awesome.  I must say, I do have the most amazing brides & grooms.  Their wedding party, hysterical.  I seriously laughed so hard all day.  As I say after every shoot, I really do have the best job in the world.  Thank you Jennifer and Jason for including me in your day.  I was honored to shoot your wedding and help out just a little.  Have a wonderful honeymoon and enjoy this small selection of images from your day. :)

This past weekend I had the honor of shooting the wedding of Heather and Jarret.  I have been booked for this wedding for such a long time and hadn't had a chance to meet the bride and groom yet.  I had no idea what lovely people I was about to work with.  Heather and Jarret are both such sweet and loving people.  Sorry Jarret for calling you sweet, lol, but you are.  They are both so truly in love and their families were obviously very moved during their ceremony.  As usual the wedding party was FAB!  I don't know how I get so lucky to have such great people to work with.  I really do have the best job.  As a side note, the bride got ready at the very chic Salon Fli.  What a cool salon and the stylists there are awesome.  Heather looked even more lovely when she left than when she arrived.  Well, thanks again Heather and Jarret for allowing me to share in your special day.  I truly wish you both all the best in your new life together.  Here's just a small selection of photos from your day!  Enjoy!

Well this blog post is a little late since I have been in the middle of a big move.  It's also partially late because this couple rocked their photos so well, its been almost impossible to choose just a few, so get ready for a long post.  I met with Janelle and Michael over a year ago to book their wedding and have been looking forward to it ever since.  They are beautiful people, inside and out.  So are their friends and families.  We had a blast.  Thanks everyone.  I would just like to add that the girls had all their hair and makeup done at this wonderful shop called Indira Salon and Spa.  Be sure to check them out.  They were such a great bunch of girls and did great work.  Also, while at the spa, Michael had a special gift delivered to Janelle.  You will see a few photos of these amazing cupcakes that honestly looked too beautiful to eat.  They are also just as delicious as they are beautiful and they came from the wonderful Koko Patisserie on Broad St in Regina.  If you are looking for some extra special, unforgettable treats, Koko is definitely the place to go so be sure to check them out.  Thanks again Michael, Janelle and family for being so great to work with.  Congratulations and all the best in your wonderful new life together.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting Kristle and Josh's winter wedding.  We were very fortunate to have quite a nice day, for February that is.  But with such great families and bridal party, I think we could have handled anything.  Thanks everyone for being so wonderful to work with and to Josh and Kristle for being such a relaxed bride and groom.  A special thank you goes out to Tom and Mike at the Regina Flying Club.  They really rolled out the red carpet for us.  Thanks guys.  Much appreciated.

When we were so warmly welcomed at the Regina Flying Club, the guys there filled us in on a recent Fashion Shoot that had been done in the summer by the very talented Nikole Peters of Nikole Peters Photography.  We all loved it so much we decided to try our "Winter Wedding Version" of it.

Yesterday, thankfully, was a beautiful October day.  Finally.  They have been few and far between these days.  It was a beautiful day for a wedding.  I was fortunate enough to be chosen by Laura and Curtis to share in their day.  I had a great time with them, their families and their crazy wedding party....especially Toni, lol.  We started the day at Chatters Salon in Yorkton.  They did a fantastic job for the girls and a bunch of other bridal parties as well.  When I walked in I had a hard time finding my bride as there were three of them.  From there we went to a friend of their family's house for the girls to get ready.  A special thank you to Millie and Ivan for lending their lovely home to the girls while they were out of town.  After that we were off to a lovely ceremony at St Andrews United Church and then off to our first photo location.  Finally we wrapped up at an old family farm out by Saltcoats. Trees, old cars and old buildings.  If you know me, you know I was in my glory.  Anyway, thanks again guys for being so awesome to work with and have a fantastic honeymoon in Vegas!!  Here's a selection of some of my favorite images from your special day.

My website seems to be acting up right now so I can't leave comments between the photos.  All I can say is I totally loved Laura's bridal photos.  Her look was so classic and a bit vintage.  Especially with the beautiful fur stole that was provided by Dream Weddings in Yorkton which is also where she got her dress and the bridesmaids dresses.  The flowers by "Welcome Home Gifts" were lovely and perfectly complimented all of the dresses and decor.  I can't say too much else other than Laura and Curtis were so great to work with.  Curtis definitley watches out for his new bride.  So nice to see.  I think those emotions definitely show through in all of their images.  I posted quite a few as I just couldn't make up my mind which ones I liked best :)

This Thanksgiving I was shooting the beautiful wedding of Ashley and Dustin at the Temple Garden Mineral Spa in Moose Jaw.  What a beautiful location for a great couple to say "I do".  The weather definitely could have been better.  A lot better actually.  But they were so easy going.  Their main concern was to get a great family photo of them and their precious little one and anything after that was gravy.  Since was snowing and miserable we did a bunch inside with their adorable little girl and then they were so great and braved the outdoors for a few.  It was totally worth it as we got some beautiful winter wedding shots.  Even though they were in October, lol.  Thanks again you guys for including me in your day.

For any of you couples that are coming to me for engagement and then Wedding Photos, here's an idea for you.  Create a "Save the Date" card with one of your Engagement Photos.  If this is something you are interested in, just drop me a line and I can price them out for you depending on size, quantity, design, etc.  Here's an example of a pretty straight forward "Save the Date" card.

This past weekend I had such a blast shooting Craig and Vanessa's Scottish Wedding.  I did their engagement pictures on New Years Eve and loved them right away.  They are so "real" and so much fun.  And so were their families and wedding party.  We shot in a few different places around the city and even in McNally's Pub thanks to one of their groomsmen.  I am a bit late getting this post up as its so busy so I won't be commenting in between the photos.  I am sure you can figure things out, lol.  Thanks again to everyone at the wedding.  Looking forward to seeing you all again :)

A few weeks ago I decided that I was going to hire an assistant to help with some book work and tag along to the occasional wedding.  That's when I thought of this great young girl who basically my neighbor and definitely loves the photography world.  She swooped in and caught up all of my book work in no time flat so this past weekend I asked her if she wanted to help me at a wedding.  She jumped at the chance even though she was pretty sure she'd just be lugging equipment, holding reflectors and basically being my gopher, lol.  Well, much to her surprise, right before the ceremony was about to begin, I handed her a camera and said "lets see what you get".  She was a bit nervous but jumped right in and did a great job for me all day.  Especially since I literally gave her a 30 second talk about how to use the camera.  So it was definitely sink or swim and she absolutely swam with the fishes all day.  She did awesome, so I decided that before I post the wedding blog, I will post a few that she took on her own.  I helped a little with the Photoshop but they are her shots and for the first time with a camera in her hands, I thought she did wonderfully.  Here they are Niki.  Great Job!!!

IMG_9495.jpg
This first image is obviously Niki hard at work.  I don't look quite that good, lol, but I do have about 30 years on her too.

IMG_9362.jpgThis was basically the only shot I asked her to try to get and she did.  I think it was the first or second shot that she took.  Good job Nik!

IMG_9404.jpgNiki captured this great candid shots of the guys as I was posing them.

IMG_9515.jpg

And  finally Niki caught this great silouette of the bride outside the reception hall.  Again, great job Nik!  You rock!

This past weekend I went to Manitoba to shoot Pam & Chad's wedding.  It was in Swan River which is such a pretty town with lots of great places to shoot.  Pam & Chad's families were so awesine and so was the wedding party.  Thank goodness, as it was a bigger one.   There were some definite touching moments and lots of laughs along the way.  Thanks everyone for being so easy to work with and for all your help lugging those important things like ladders and back up cameras, right Kenny, lol.  Here's a few fav's from the day.
Their beautiful little girl Emily and the teeniest little tiara.  It was so adorable.

IMG_7462.jpgHere was one of those touching moments.  When Pam was in the middle of hair and makeup, flowers with a beautiful note arrived from Chad.  I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.

IMG_7479.jpg
Are you kidding me?  How gorgeous is the bride!?!

IMG_7529.jpgI love those moments right after they are pronounced husband and wife.  Introducing the happy family!

IMG_7681.jpg
The first place we went to take photos was at the Swan River Heritage Museum.  I could have actually stayed there all day.  Ton's of cool places.  But Pam ensured me we had an even more interesting location to go to, out by Bozeman.
IMG_7866.jpgCan you say "fierce", lol?  Right Pam?  You were amazing!

IMG_7895.jpg

IMG_7890b.jpgAnd not to leave out the groom....Chad was lookin pretty darn handsome himself!

IMG_7880.jpgI'm not sure how to narrow down the rest of the images.  We shot in some pretty cool locations including the canola field, some old barns and this amazing bridge.  Oh well, I guess I will just include them all.  Thanks again to everyone.  You were a blast!

IMG_8085.jpg

This next shot was the last one of the day and it was of the whole crew.  The wedding party was lucky enough to have Kenny and his wife drive them around all day in their big motor home.  Kenny was very helpful and a blast.  Thanks so much.  His wife, sorry I forgot your name, definitely classed up the joint by always drinking out of a wine glass....even if we were in the bush, lol.  Again, much thanks to you all!
