This past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend a newborn baby workshop put on by Stephanie Robin of Baby Vogue Workshops.  It was a great workshop and I learned a ton.  I truly believe a person just can't stop learning and its always good to step out of your comfort zone and try new and different things.  Here's my favorite shot from the workshop.  A special thank you to Christine and Trent for allowing us to work with them and their precious new babe.

Recently sent in a submission to the Professional Photographers of Canada for judging.  The category was "Wedding Environmental" which basically is outdoor wedding photography.  Nothing shot inside is allowed in this category.  The judging was done in Moncton, New Brunswick last week and I am very proud to announce that I got accredited on my first shot!!  Its very important for photographers to be accredited members of their association.  There is a lot more to the life of a Photographer than most people realize.  Its been a lot of hard work over the years and I am definitely proud of my accomplishments.  I would also like to send a special thank you to my PPOC sponsor, Carina Lamarche of Details Photography, who is always there for me when I need assistance.  Thank you Carina for all you do for me and for other photographers in the PPOC.

Well I am actually taking a break in the middle of summer.  The studio will be closed from August 1st to August 7th and will reopen on August 8th.  Have a wonderful week everyone. And since every post is better with a photo, here's our little Maddie again :)

As I am sure you all know, photography over the years has changed a great deal which is why we keep having to strive to learn more and create better images.  Sometimes though, I think its easy to think that images turn out perfect SOOC (straight out of the camera).  That's not always the case.  Its hardly ever the case actually.   The job of a photographer is a vast one.  You don't just take pretty pictures.  It covers everything from keeping up to date on current trends, computer equipment as well as software, camera equipment, posing techniques, scouting out locations, returning a million emails and phone calls, creating sets, completing orders and shipping, as well as editing, editing, editing those lovely shots.  But its so easy to keep that from our clients.  Just shoot and ship and all the stuff in the middle remains a secret of sorts.  Well there is a lot to this job and even though some parts of it can be daunting, I still love it and the clients I get to meet because of it. So I have decided, on occasion, to post before and after images for you to see.  Some may be just a slight change and some may be photoshopped to heck and back, lol.  But hopefully it will be interesting for you to see how things start out and how they end up.  Creativity must be there in shooting but it also be there in the post production and I hope that everyone enjoys the result.  A special thank you to the very striking Mr & Mrs. Moon for this shot.

You forgot blogging! Lol. People have NO clue how LOOONG things take. I have barely had a chance to edit all week as I have been busy designing Christmas cards and collages!! Oh well, I too, LOVE my job :)

Your right Maureen. I totally forgot about blogging. How could I, lol. Plus as you said there's all the custom edits like Christmas Cards, Thank you Cards, etc. Add all those things together and it makes it tough to take the time to go to workshops etc just to stay current and then find a bit of time for your family.

This is a great idea Sharon! Shows all the people (like me) how much of a difference it makes when a pro does the pictures.

Very cool Sharon! You have the best combination of talent and creativity. I know your clients appreciate all of the countless hours you must spend on your computer editing. I am already extremely excited for you to work your magic on me and Devin next August ;)
